Rich, the founder and CEO of thirteen05 creative, is the official Old Guy here. This does not earn him respect.
The staff constantly stump him with references to music, movies and TV shows he has never heard of. Just ask him about the “Wu-Tang Clan” incident.
Born and raised in Chicago, despite a background in math and computer programming, he is not really that geeky. Decades in middle management in small and medium sized companies and a stint as a globe-travelling consultant left him familiar with the problems of small and medium-sized businesses across a wide range of industries, along with a few firm rules:
- “I’m going to spend my time doing things I love.”
- “I hate bureaucracy.”
- “Small businessmen need better marketing.”
Despite a tendency to play 18th century church music in his office, the staff claim to love him. Besides classical, funk and rock music, he is fond of kayaking, science fiction, adventure movies and the nastiest existing rollercoaster rides. Rich and his love, Sonia, live in a 90 year old house in Clearwater that is not haunted, but does have two feline occupants.
